One More Sleep for Bride and Groom . . .

I took this photo in Paris in May 2011–if memory serves correctly, there were 2 or 3 more brides out of the lens’ views.

Clearly, many brides dream of weddings in Paris. . . .

Here on our little island, preparing for my son’s nuptials tomorrow, we think longingly not of the Eiffel Tower but of a magic wand that would transport all the food, china, linens, cutlery, beverages. Not that I’m the one who has been driving a golf-cart-and trailer (only on tiny islands are golf carts the vehicle de rigueur) back and forth to the boat, shuttling across the water for supplies and more supplies and more supplies.

Instead, I’ve been chopping and slicing and stirring and baking, cleaning a bit, making up beds. But today our eldest daughter and I are heading to the spa with the Bride-to-be for facials and manis and pedis and good old pampering. (then we’re picking up and hauling home boxes and boxes of edibles, but we’re pretty focussed on the pampering for now, and by the time it’s done we’ll be ready for work again).

Rehearsal on the beach later this afternoon and then the bride and groom’s family will have dinner here together as twilight settles in on the eve of our young couple’s marriage. . . . much as I love that view above, this will be an occasion where nothing beats home . . .

And it looks as if the weather will co-operate quite nicely. Here’s the view from the deck this morning (which, I’ve just realized is the morning of our anniversary — Paul and I got married 38 years ago today!)

I’m unlikely to post for a few days now, but watch this space for wedding photos coming soon . . .

Meanwhile, to all the visitors arriving here at Une Femme’s behest, welcome! It’s lovely to have you stop by; feel free to say hello in the comments box below.

Wow! It's beautiful. My best to the bride and groom, to Neptune the God of the Seas, and to you sleeping the sleep of the just in the none=too-distant future.

I've been watching the weather forecast and thinking of you – one of the loveliest things about blogging is the connection from afar. I hope you enjoy every minute of the next few days!

Happy anniversary! I thought the weather would hold for you. Spa time sounds perfect for today. Have a fabulous day tomorrow…looking forward to seeing pictures. I was snapping sunrise pictures at exactly the same time you were from the looks of it.

I love Paris too, but what could be more joyful to a young couple than celebrating a marriage at a home loving parents (especially of the rare "constant, long-time partner" variety) have created. So glad the natural world is easing the way by showing its sunny side. Hope you have a glorious day after this hard-working anniversary. Elle

Hope your yesterday (anniversary) and today (wedding) are wonderful. Getting ready for the term here too (begins Monday) and I am w/o full use of one arm, so more difficult than usual! But looking forward to new theoretical course on fashion.

    Happy Anniversary to you!

As I walked on French Beach (past Sooke) I thought of you and hoped the weather was as beautiful there as it was for us.

Happy belated anniversary! And I am sure the wedding was glorious, but I hope to read something about it soon as I continue to try to catch up with you.
